Animalia is PG-13! Content warnings: death, violence, bright colors, war, disaster situations, and light swearing.
Aside from small amounts of blood, all instances of gore are abstract and stylized. In other words, the comic is free of realistic blood.
We follow Willow, a cat from the innovative kingdom of Oakrose. Willow marvels at the technological advancement of humans and seeks more knowledge working as a technician under the mentorship of Thistle, an anthropologist raccoon. Willow and Thistle fight to restore the decaying Canadian great plains where their kingdom now stands, diving into the dark truths of their own government on the way. As apocalyptic summer storms threaten to destroy the region, Willow finds himself caught between discordant researchers and feuding kingdoms, so he turns to the help of a genius owl and a rogue hyena.
Animalia is a remaking of the original novel series, a series I self-published in middle school and early highschool. Though the characters, main concepts, and many settings from the novels remain, the comic series is an entirely different story. Many characters and plot points won’t represent the same themes as their previous versions, and many factors of the world of Animalia have been changed. Regardless of the changes, I hope you enjoy this piece of animal sci-fi!
